"Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for your selves. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light." ~Mt 11:28All mothers and wives can assuredly appreciate the small irony of Labor Day - on a day that celebrates those who work and toil to provide for their families and loved ones, on a day of rest for those who labor, a mother and wife still does not rest.
Her work is never done - mouths to feed, noses to wipe, floors to wash, dishes to scrub - her vocation is unceasing.
Praise God for this beautiful labor - this easy yoke, this light burden!
For in it, we will find our Rest!
And, most definitely, praise God and thank Him for all those who labor elsewhere, that they might have a much needed break today.
